It’s time to talk about a truth that is too often never mentioned. Yet, knowing and accepting this fact is all that you need to motivate you to take the best care of your health.
The most valuable physical asset that you will ever own is . . . your body.
It’s not your house, your investment portfolio, your car, etc. It’s your body.
You have one earthly vessel
You’ve been given just one body in which you must spend your lifetime – just one earthly vessel. Without it, you have no means by which to inhabit the Earth.
Unlike a car, truck, etc., your body is not replaceable. There’s no option to freely replace parts when your body falls in disrepair. Sure, there is organ transplantation for select circumstances, but those situations are few and far between. We do not have medical technology that can reverse the chronic inflammation that drives the vast majority of disease in the modern population.
Don’t get complacent
Unfortunately, we all tend to get complacent and expect that our bodies will recover from minor insults (infections, trauma, drug use, etc.). We’ve seen our bodies heal time and again, but the insults of most concern are not visible – elevated glucose, inflammation, high blood pressure, etc. We don’t appreciate it at the moment, but these insults cause harm on a microscopic level that contribute to chronic disease in the long run.
Most people don’t appreciate this hard truth until it’s too late. They let their bodies deteriorate from decades of unhealthy behaviors, leading to a physical existence that they just dread: fatigue, chronic aches and pains, stubborn weight, etc. Worse, they are left feeling hopeless and then live accordingly.
Too often, people neglect their health in pursuit of financial wealth or success in other areas of their lives, only to find that their bodies have failed along the way and thus they are no longer able to enjoy the things that they had planned to enjoy. Unfortunately, no amount of money will buy back good health once it is lost.
Modern health care is quite content propping them up on pharmaceuticals and procedures. In fact, the health care giants prefer you to be that way – moderately ill for a long period of time. That’s what generates the most revenue for them.
Summary
If you don’t have your health, you have nothing. Physical health is necessary in order to partake in any aspect of life on Earth. In one sense, nothing else matters.
Another perspective to consider: Sometimes all you have is your health. One may be down on his luck, with no material wealth or resources. As long as one has physical health, though, there is potential to recover from any circumstances.
